Oregon State Beavers baseball: OSU players in the pros


Oregon State baseball guru Hank Hager rounds up the 30 professional baseball Beavers at the major league All-Star break:

Darwin Barney (Chicago Cubs) ? Barney has appeared in 82 games for the Cubs and is batting .259 with 17 doubles, two triples and three home runs. He has driven in 23 and has 18 walks to just 28 strikeouts in 293 at bats.

Carter Bell (Arizona Diamondbacks) ? Bell has played in 49 games for the Visalia Oaks, Arizona?s Class-A affiliate in the California League. He is batting .244 with six doubles, one triple and one home run with 17 RBI.

Parker Berberet (Milwaukee Brewers) ? Berberet is currently with Milwaukee?s High-A affiliate Brevard County, in the Florida State League, where he is batting .268 with five doubles and four RBI in 25 games. He played in 14 games for Class-A Wisconsin earlier in the season.

Dave Brundage (Atlanta Braves) ? Brundage is the manager of the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves, Atlanta?s affiliate in the International League. The club stands at 43-49 this season, seven games out of first place in the Southern Division.

Jamie Burke (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) ? Burke is in his first season as a Minor League Manager, manning the Class-A Cedar Rapids Kernals of the Midwest League. The team is 6-11 in the second half after finishing at 32-38 in the first half of play.

Ryan Dunn (Tampa Bay) ? Dunn has appeared in 16 games for Class-A Hudson Valley of the New York-Penn League. He is batting .276 with four doubles and 14 RBI. He has 13 walks to just six strikeouts in 58 at bats.

Jacoby Ellsbury (Boston Red Sox) ? Ellsbury is currently on Boston?s 60-day disabled list after playing in seven games in April. He is eligible to come off the list soon and may do so shortly after the All-Star Break.

Mike Ekstrom (Colorado Rockies) ? Ekstrom has pitched in 37 games for Triple-A Colorado Springs (Pacific Coast League) where he is 2-1 with a 2.64 earned run average. He has struck out 51 in 47 2/3 innings.

Sam Gaviglio (St. Louis Cardinals) ? Gaviglio has started in 14 games for Single-A Quad Cities (Midwest League) where he is 5-5 with a 4.50 ERA in 80 innings. He has 68 strikeouts to just 15 walks.

Cole Gillespie (Arizona Diamondbacks) ? Gillespie has played in 85 games for the Triple-A Reno Aces (Pacific Coast League) and is batting .319 with 20 doubles, three triples and 10 home runs. He has driven in 43 with 10 stolen bases.

Tyler Graham (Arizona Diamondbacks) ? Graham is currently with Triple-A Reno but is on the seven-day disabled list and has not played since joining the Arizona organization after being released by San Francisco. He had hit .263 in five games for Triple-A Fresno.

Eddie Kunz (San Diego Padres) ? He has pitched in nine games for Double-A San Antonio (Texas League) and is 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA in 13 innings. He had pitched in 18 games for Triple-A Tucson (PCL), going 2-1 with a 6.59 ERA in 26 2/3 innings.

Jordan Lennerton (Detroit Tigers) ? Lennerton has appeared in 85 games for Double-A Erie (Eastern League) and is batting .281 with 16 doubles, 17 home runs and 59 RBI.

James Nygren (Miami Marlins) ? Nygren is playing for Single-A Greensboro in the South Atlantic League and is 5-1 with a 5.01 earned run average in 27 games. He also has 10 saves and has thrown 46 2/3 innings.

Ryan Ortiz (Oakland Athletics) ? Ortiz has played in 44 games for Double-A Midland (Texas League) and is batting .167 with five doubles, one triple, two home runs and 13 RBI.

Josh Osich (San Francisco Giants) ? Osich has pitched in 16 games, making two starts, for Single-A San Jose (California League). He is 0-2 with a 3.50 ERA in 18 innings. He has 18 strikeouts.

Joe Paterson (Arizona Diamondbacks) ? Paterson has pitched in 29 games for Triple-A Reno (PCL), going 2-1 with a 4.44 ERA in 24 1/3 innings. He had made six appearances with the parent Diamondbacks earlier in the season.

Greg Peavey (New York Mets) ? Peavey has made 15 starts for Double-A Binghamton (Eastern League) and is 3-6 with a 5.94 ERA in 77 1/3 innings.

Jorge Reyes (San Diego Padres) ? Reyes is pitching for Triple-A Tucson (PCL) where he has appeared in 18 games, all starts. He is 6-8 with a 5.14 ERA in 105 innings of work.

Kevin Rhoderick (Chicago Cubs) ? Rhoderick has pitched in 27 games for Double-A Tennessee (Southern League) and is 2-4 with a 4.33 ERA in 35 1/3 innings. He has seven saves and 30 strikeouts while opponents are hitting .211 against him.

Daniel Robertson (San Diego Padres) ? Robertson is with Triple-A Tucson (PCL) and is batting .318 with 17 doubles, three triples and one home run with 27 RBI. He will represent the PCL as a Triple-A All-Star Wednesday in Buffalo, N.Y. The game can be seen live on the MLB Network at 4 p.m. PT.

Tanner Robles (Cincinnati Reds) ? Robles was recently promoted to High-A Bakersfield (California League) where has thrown in one game, going six innings with just three hits allowed. He had previously pitched for Single-A Dayton (Midwest League) and was 5-5 with a 4.45 ERA in 16 games.

Stefen Romero (Seattle Mariners) ? Romero has played in 16 games for Double-A Jackson since being promoted and is batting .397 with six doubles, two triples, three home runs and 21 RBI. He was batting .357 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI with Single-A High Desert (California League) prior to the promotion.

Adalberto Santos (Pittsburgh Pirates) ? Santos is currently on a rehab assignment with the Pirates? Gulf Coast League club. Prior to that, he had played for Double-A Altoona (Eastern League), batting .396 with four doubles in 17 games.

Kraig Sitton (Colorado Rockies) ? Sitton is with Single-A Modesto (California League) and is 1-1 with a 1.63 ERA in 33 games, all in relief. He has thrown 38 2/3 innings this season.

Mike Stutes (Philadelphia Phillies) ? Stutes is currently on the 15-day disabled list and has pitched in six games for the Phillies, working a total of 5 2/3 innings.

Andrew Susac (San Francisco Giants) ? Susac has played in 60 games for Single-A San Jose (California League) and is batting .234 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 28 RBI.

Daniel Turpen (Minnesota Twins) ? Turpen is with Double-A New Britain (Eastern League) where he has pitched in 29 games, all in relief, and has a 3-2 record and 4.70 ERA in 46 innings.

Tyler Waldron (Pittsburgh Pirates) ? Waldron has pitched in 17 games for Single-A Bradenton (Florida State League). He is 5-6 with a 5.40 ERA in 85 innings.

Joey Wong (Colorado Rockies) ? Wong is currently with Single-A Asheville (South Atlantic League) and is batting .250 with two triples and three home runs. He has also played a combined 10 games with Single-A Tri City (Northwest League) and Modesto (California League).
